Is your boat properly insured? Understanding your insurance needs, as well as the ins and outs of policy coverages, can give you the peace of mind that will let you concentrate on the finer things in life - like getting out on the open water on a clear day in the Florida sun. Members Insurance Center provides insurance coverage for boats, jet skis, personal watercraft and yachts less than 15 years old. Some coverage options include:
Physical Damage Coverage (Hull Coverage)
This covers your vessel and includes permanently attached equipment, machinery, dinghies, outboard motors, fittings and other equipment normally required for the operation and maintenance of the vessel.
Liability Coverage
This covers sums which you or a covered person may become legally obligated to pay as the result of the ownership, operation, or maintenance of the vessel. The limit of liability you require may be influenced by your individual financial strength, the requirements of the marina or your umbrella policy.
Medical Payments
This coverage pays for necessary and reasonable medical, ambulance, hospital, professional nursing and funeral expenses for persons injured in, upon, boarding or leaving the insured vessel. Coverage for waterskiers is included. If selected all watercraft on the policy must carry the same medical limits.
Uninsured/Underinsured Watercraft Bodily Injury
This covers the damages that, because of bodily injury received aboard your vessel, you may be legally entitled to recover from the uninsured owner or operator of another boat. UWBI cannot be purchased at limits greater than the Liability limits. UWBI limits must be equal for all craft on the policy and a separate charge is made for each.
Unattached Equipment Coverage
This covers clothing, personal effects, fishing gear and sports equipment that belongs to you or members of your family while these items are onboard your boat or are being loaded or unloaded.
